Lángos (Hungarian Fried Flatbread)

Ingredients

  • 500 g all-purpose flour
  • 7 g dry yeast
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 1½ tsp salt
  • 300 ml warm water
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; rest 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix flour and salt, add yeast mixture and oil; knead until soft and elastic.
  3. Cover and let rise 45–60 minutes, until doubled.
  4. Divide dough into balls; rest 10 minutes.
  5. Stretch each into a thin round with thicker edges.
  6. Fry in hot oil (170–180°C / 340–355°F) until golden on both sides.
  7. Drain on paper towels.

Serve with: garlic water, sour cream, grated cheese.
