
Hungarian Vanilla Crescent Cookies (Vaníliás Kifli)
Ingredients
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 200 g cold butter, cubed
- 100 g ground walnuts or almonds
- 80 g powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
For coating:
- Powdered sugar
- Vanilla sugar (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 170°C / 340°F.
- In a bowl, mix flour, ground nuts, powdered sugar, and salt.
- Add cold butter and vanilla, then knead quickly until a soft dough forms.
- Shape small portions into crescent shapes.
- Place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes until lightly golden (do not overbake).
- While still warm, coat generously with powdered sugar (and vanilla sugar if using).
- Let cool completely before serving.
