
🍋 Lemon Custard Slice (Krémes Style)
Ingredients
Pastry Base:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ½ cup butter, cold and cubed
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 egg
- 2–3 tbsp cold water
Cream Filling:
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup sugar
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Lemon Topping:
- ½ cup lemon juice (fresh)
- 3–4 tbsp sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
Instructions
1️⃣ Make the pastry base:
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Mix flour, sugar, and butter until crumbly. Add egg and cold water to form dough.
- Press into a greased baking pan.
- Bake 15–20 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool.
2️⃣ Prepare the cream filling:
- Whisk egg yolks with sugar and cornstarch.
- Heat milk until warm, slowly whisk into yolk mixture.
- Return to heat, cook until thick, stirring constantly.
- Stir in vanilla, let slightly cool.
- Spread over baked pastry base.
3️⃣ Make lemon topping:
- Mix egg, lemon juice, sugar, and cornstarch.
- Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly.
- Pour over cream layer, smooth evenly.
4️⃣ Chill and serve:
- Refrigerate at least 2–3 hours.
- Cut into squares before serving.
