
Ingredients:
- 2 lbs chicken thighs or drumsticks
- 2 tbsp oil or lard
- 2 large onions, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced (optional)
- 1 tomato, chopped (optional)
- 1 cup chicken broth or water
- 3/4 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp flour
Dumplings (Nokedli):
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot, sauté onions until soft. Remove from heat, stir in paprika.
- Add chicken, salt, pepper, pepper slices, and tomato.
- Add broth, cover and simmer 35–40 minutes until chicken is tender.
- Mix sour cream with flour, stir into sauce, simmer 5 minutes.
Dumplings:
- Mix flour, egg, salt, and water into sticky dough.
- Drop small dumplings into boiling salted water.
- Cook until they float, remove and drain.
Serve:
- Spoon chicken and sauce over dumplings and serve hot.
