Vanilla Custard Cream Squares

Ingredients

  • 1 package puff pastry sheets (2 sheets), thawed

Custard Cream

  • 2½ cups milk
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ⅓ cup cornstarch
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Topping

  • Powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Bake puff pastry sheets according to package directions until golden. Cool completely.
  2. In a saucepan, whisk milk, sugar, cornstarch, and egg yolks until smooth.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick.
  4. Remove from heat; stir in butter and vanilla. Cool slightly.
  5. Spread custard over one pastry sheet, top with second sheet.
  6. Dust with powdered sugar, chill, then cut into squares.
