🛒 Ingredients

  • 2½ lbs (1.2 kg) potatoes
  • 6 hard-boiled eggs
  • 12 oz (350 g) Hungarian smoked sausage (kolbász), sliced
  • 1½ cups sour cream
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • Optional: ½ cup milk or cream
  • Optional topping: grated cheese or breadcrumbs

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prep
    • Boil potatoes in salted water until tender. Cool, peel, and slice.
    • Peel and slice hard-boiled eggs.
    • Slice sausage.
  2. Layer
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter a baking dish.
    • Layer potatoes → eggs → sausage.
    • Season lightly with salt & pepper.
    • Spread sour cream (mix with milk/cream if thinner is preferred).
    • Repeat layers, finishing with sour cream on top.
  3. Finish
    • Dot with butter.
    • Optional: sprinkle cheese or breadcrumbs on top.
  4. Bake
    • Bake 35–40 minutes, until hot and lightly golden.
  5. Rest & Serve
    • Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
