🇭🇺 Rakott Krumpli (Hungarian Layered Potato Casserole)
🛒 Ingredients
- 2½ lbs (1.2 kg) potatoes
- 6 hard-boiled eggs
- 12 oz (350 g) Hungarian smoked sausage (kolbász), sliced
- 1½ cups sour cream
- 3 tbsp butter
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
- Optional: ½ cup milk or cream
- Optional topping: grated cheese or breadcrumbs
👩🍳 Instructions
- Prep
- Boil potatoes in salted water until tender. Cool, peel, and slice.
- Peel and slice hard-boiled eggs.
- Slice sausage.
- Layer
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Butter a baking dish.
- Layer potatoes → eggs → sausage.
- Season lightly with salt & pepper.
- Spread sour cream (mix with milk/cream if thinner is preferred).
- Repeat layers, finishing with sour cream on top.
- Finish
- Dot with butter.
- Optional: sprinkle cheese or breadcrumbs on top.
- Bake
- Bake 35–40 minutes, until hot and lightly golden.
- Rest & Serve
- Let rest 10 minutes before slicing.
