🛒 Ingredients

Dough

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp instant yeast
  • ¾ cup warm milk
  • ¼ cup warm water
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 egg

Filling

  • 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or mix)
  • 1 cup diced ham or turkey
  • 1 tsp dried oregano or thyme
  • Black pepper to taste

Topping

  • 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk
  • Extra cheese (optional)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Make the Dough
    • In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
    • Add warm milk, water, butter, and egg.
    • Knead until soft and smooth (8–10 minutes).
    • Cover and let rise 1 hour, until doubled.
  2. Roll & Fill
    • Roll dough into a rectangle.
    • Sprinkle evenly with cheese, ham, herbs, and pepper.
  3. Shape
    • Roll tightly into a log.
    • Slice into rolls (about 2 cm thick).
    • Place in a greased baking tray.
  4. Second Rise
    • Cover and let rest 20–30 minutes.
  5. Bake
    • Brush with egg yolk + milk.
    • Sprinkle extra cheese if desired.
    • Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
