🛒 Ingredients
Dough
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp instant yeast
- ¾ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup warm water
- 3 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 egg
Filling
- 1½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or mix)
- 1 cup diced ham or turkey
- 1 tsp dried oregano or thyme
- Black pepper to taste
Topping
- 1 egg yolk + 1 tbsp milk
- Extra cheese (optional)
👩🍳 Instructions
- Make the Dough
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt, and yeast.
- Add warm milk, water, butter, and egg.
- Knead until soft and smooth (8–10 minutes).
- Cover and let rise 1 hour, until doubled.
- Roll & Fill
- Roll dough into a rectangle.
- Sprinkle evenly with cheese, ham, herbs, and pepper.
- Shape
- Roll tightly into a log.
- Slice into rolls (about 2 cm thick).
- Place in a greased baking tray.
- Second Rise
- Cover and let rest 20–30 minutes.
- Bake
- Brush with egg yolk + milk.
- Sprinkle extra cheese if desired.
- Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until golden and bubbly.
