🦐 Southern Shrimp Boil Recipe

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broth
    • In a large stockpot, bring water, beer (if using), Old Bay, salt, lemons, and onion to a rolling boil.
  2. Cook the Potatoes
    • Add potatoes and cook 10–12 minutes, until just starting to soften.
  3. Add Corn & Sausage
    • Add corn and sausage, boil another 5–7 minutes.
  4. Add the Shrimp
    • Toss in the shrimp and cook just 2–3 minutes, until pink and cooked through. Don’t overcook!
  5. Drain & Serve
    • Drain everything in a large colander.
    • Spread on a newspaper-covered table or large platter.
  6. Finish with Flavor
    • Drizzle melted butter over the top.
    • Sprinkle with extra Old Bay and parsley.

How to Serve:

  • Place everything right in the center of the table for a family-style feast.
  • Add lemon wedges, cocktail sauce, and extra melted butter on the side.
  • Serve with crusty bread or garlic bread to soak up the juices.

🔥 Tip: You can also make this a sheet pan version in the oven if you want less cleanup.

Would you like me to also give you the sheet pan shrimp boil method (same flavors, easier for smaller batches)?
