🛒 Ingredients

Meat Filling

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef (or lamb)
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • Salt & black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

Mashed Potato Topping

  • 4–5 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • ½ cup milk (warm)
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Cook the potatoes
    Boil potatoes in salted water until soft. Drain and mash with butter, milk, and salt until creamy. Set aside.
  2. Prepare meat filling
    Heat oil in a pan. Sauté onion until soft, add garlic.
    Add ground meat and cook until browned.
  3. Season & simmer
    Stir in tomato paste, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
    Add broth and simmer 5–10 minutes until thick.
    Mix in vegetables and cook 2 more minutes.
  4. Assemble
    Spread meat mixture in a baking dish.
    Spoon mashed potatoes on top and smooth with a fork.
    Sprinkle cheese if using.
  5. Bake
    Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 20–25 minutes, until golden on top.
  6. Rest & serve
    Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
