1. Prepare the Dough:

  • Mix flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder in a bowl.
  • Cut in the cold butter until the mixture is crumbly.
  • Add the egg and sour cream, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  • Divide dough in half, wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

2. Make the Apple Filling:

  • Squeeze excess juice from the grated apples.
  • Mix with sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest, and juice.

3. Assemble the Pie:

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  • Roll out one dough half and place in a greased 9×13-inch (or similar) baking pan.
  • Sprinkle semolina or breadcrumbs over the base.
  • Spread apple filling evenly.
  • Roll out second dough half and place on top.
  • Prick top with a fork. Optional: brush with beaten egg.

4. Bake:

  • Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until golden on top.

5. Cool & Serve:

  • Let cool completely before cutting into squares.
  • Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
