👩🍳 Instructions:
1. Preheat Oven:
- Preheat to 375°F (190°C). Grease a deep-dish pie pan (9 inches and at least 1.5–2 inches deep).
2. Prepare the Crust:
- Roll out one pie crust into the pie dish and press into the bottom and sides.
- Brush with a mix of melted butter + garlic powder (and Italian seasoning if using) for extra flavor.
- Set second crust aside for the top.
3. Cook the Meats:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef and sausage with onion and bell pepper (if using) until fully browned.
- Drain excess grease.
- Stir in pizza sauce, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.
- Simmer for 2–3 minutes to blend flavors.
4. Assemble the Pie:
- Layer half the mozzarella and Parmesan into the crust.
- Spoon in the hot meat mixture.
- Top with remaining cheese and pepperoni slices.
5. Add the Top Crust:
- Place second pie crust over the filling.
- Pinch and seal the edges. Cut a few slits in the top for steam to escape.
- Brush with remaining garlic butter.
6. Bake:
- Bake for 35–45 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbling.
- If edges brown too fast, cover with foil partway through baking.
7. Cool & Serve:
- Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing — this helps the filling set.
🧀 Optional Add-Ins:
- Sliced black olives
- Mushrooms
- Spinach or banana peppers
- Crumbled bacon
🔄 Variations:
- Make it low-carb by skipping the top crust or using a cauliflower crust alternative.
- Use a crescent roll sheet or puff pastry for a more tender crust.
