🥔 Layered Potatoes (Rakott Krumpli)

Ingredients

  • 1 kg potatoes
  • 4–5 eggs
  • 300–400 g Hungarian sausage (kolbász), sliced
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • Salt
  • Butter or oil for greasing
  • Optional: paprika or a little milk/cream to thin sour cream

Instructions

  1. Boil potatoes in their skins until tender. Cool, peel, and slice.
  2. Hard-boil eggs, peel, and slice.
  3. Grease a baking dish.
  4. Layer sliced potatoes, season lightly with salt.
  5. Add a layer of eggs, then sausage slices.
  6. Spread some sour cream over the layer.
  7. Repeat layers until ingredients are used, finishing with sour cream on top.
  8. Dot with butter if desired.
  9. Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 35–40 minutes, until hot and lightly golden.
  10. Rest 10 minutes before serving.

Classic Hungarian comfort food 🇭🇺
Best served with pickles or cucumber salad.
