👩🍳 Let’s Bake Some Kifli!
- Activate the Yeast:
In a small bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy. This step brings your dough to life! 🌱✨ - Make the Dough:
In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Add butter and cut it into the flour until it’s crumbly. Add the yeast mixture, egg yolks, and sour cream. Mix and knead until smooth. Cover and let rise for about 1 hour. - Prepare the Filling:
In a small saucepan, heat the milk and sugar. Add ground poppy seeds, stir well, and cook for a few minutes until thickened. Add vanilla and optional lemon zest. Let cool. - Shape the Kifli:
Roll the dough out into a circle. Cut into wedges (like a pizza 🍕), place a small spoonful of filling near the wide end, and roll up into a crescent. Curve slightly into a crescent shape. - Bake:
Place kifli on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 18–20 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool slightly. - Dust with Love:
Once they’ve cooled a bit, dust with powdered sugar. 💨🍬
