
Instructions:
- In a bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water with 1 tablespoon sugar. Let sit until foamy (about 5–10 minutes).
- Mix in evaporated milk, egg, ¼ cup sugar, and 3½ cups flour.
- Add softened butter and knead into a soft, smooth dough.
- Cover and let dough rise until doubled in size (about 1–2 hours).
- Roll out dough to ¼-inch thickness and cut into squares.
- Heat oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C). Fry beignets in batches until puffed and golden, about 2 minutes per side.
- Drain on paper towels and dust generously with powdered sugar.
- Serve warm and enjoy!
