  1. Activate the yeast
    • In a small bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make the dough
    • In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and egg. Knead until smooth and elastic (about 8–10 minutes).
  3. First rise
    • Cover the dough with a clean kitchen towel and let it rise in a warm place for 1–1.5 hours, until doubled in size.
  4. Shape the rolls
    • Punch down the dough, divide into equal pieces, and shape into rolls. Place on a greased baking sheet or in a baking dish.
  5. Second rise
    • Cover and let the rolls rise again for 30–40 minutes, until puffy.
  6. Bake
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush rolls with a little milk or beaten egg for a golden top. Bake 15–20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Cool & serve
