🍎 Hungarian Apple Pastries – Soft, Sweet & Cinnamon-Perfect

Ingredients (makes 12 pieces)

Dough:

  • 1 package instant yeast
  • 130 ml lukewarm water
  • 50 g sugar
  • 130 ml lukewarm milk
  • 75 g melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 600 g all-purpose flour

Filling:

  • 5 apples (e.g., Granny Smith), peeled and chopped
  • 100 g sugar
  • 5 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 200 g brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon

Glaze:

  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 60 g cream cheese
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

1️⃣ Prepare Dough:

  • Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water and milk with sugar.
  • Combine with flour, salt, egg, and melted butter. Knead into a smooth dough.
  • Cover and let rise for ~1 hour, until doubled.

2️⃣ Prepare Filling:

  • Mix chopped apples with sugar, melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

3️⃣ Assemble Pastries:

  • Roll out dough into rectangles.
  • Place apple filling in the center, fold or roll dough as desired.

4️⃣ Bake:

  • Preheat oven to 180 °C (350 °F).
  • Bake for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown.

5️⃣ Prepare Glaze:

  • Mix melted butter, cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  • Spread glaze over warm pastries.
