⭐ Ingredients

For the Peppers & Filling

  • 8–10 yellow Hungarian peppers (or bell peppers)
  • 1 lb (450 g) ground pork (or beef/pork mix)
  • 1/2 cup rice, uncooked
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt

For the Sauce

  • 2 tbsp oil or lard
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 2 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
  • 1 tbsp tomato paste
  • 4 cups (1 liter) broth or water
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • Salt to taste

Optional

  • 2 Hungarian-style smoked sausages (kolbász)
  • 2–3 tomatoes, whole, added to the pot for flavor
