📝 Ingredients (4 servings)
- 4–6 Hungarian wax peppers (or yellow bell peppers)
- 1 lb (450 g) ground pork (or a mix of pork & beef)
- 1 cup (200 g) uncooked rice (short-grain works best)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
For the Sauce:
- 1 tbsp lard or oil
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 4 cups (1 L) tomato purée or passata
- 1–2 cups (250–500 ml) water or broth
- 1 tsp sugar (balances acidity)
- Salt & pepper, to taste
