🇭🇺 Lángos

A classic Hungarian street food — deep-fried flatbread that’s crispy outside, soft inside, and usually topped with garlic, sour cream, and cheese.

Ingredients

  • 2½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (7 g) dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¾–1 cup warm milk
  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • Oil for frying

Toppings (Traditional):

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (mixed with 2 tablespoons water)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 cup grated cheese

Directions

  1. Dissolve yeast and sugar in warm milk. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour and salt. Add yeast mixture and oil. Knead into a soft dough (add more milk if needed).
  3. Cover and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  4. Divide dough into 4–6 pieces. Shape into flat rounds about ½-inch thick.
  5. Heat oil in a deep pan (about 350°F / 175°C). Fry each piece 1–2 minutes per side until golden.
  6. Drain on paper towels.
  7. While warm, brush with garlic mixture. Top with sour cream and grated cheese.

Serve hot and enjoy this Hungarian favorite! 🇭🇺
