🇭🇺 Hungarian Plum Cake (Szilvás Pite)

Instructions

1. Make the dough

  1. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt.
  2. Rub in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. Add egg, sour cream, vanilla → knead into a soft dough.
  4. Divide into two equal parts.
  5. Roll each part into a rectangle to fit your baking tray.

2. Prepare the filling

  1. Halve or slice plums.
  2. Mix with sugar + cinnamon.
  3. Sprinkle semolina/breadcrumbs on the bottom dough layer.

3. Assemble

  1. Place first rolled dough sheet into the baking tray.
  2. Add plums evenly.
  3. Cover with the second dough sheet.
  4. Prick the top with a fork.

4. Bake

Bake at 180°C / 350°F for 35–40 minutes,
until lightly golden.


5. Finish

Cool completely.
Dust with powdered sugar.
Cut into squares.
