
Instructions
- Sauté base
- Heat lard/oil in a large pot. Add onions and cook until soft and golden.
- Remove from heat briefly, stir in paprika (so it doesn’t burn).
- Add potatoes & veggies
- Add potatoes, garlic, bell pepper, and tomatoes. Stir to coat in paprika and onions.
- Simmer
- Pour in water/broth just enough to cover the potatoes.
- Season with salt and pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer.
- Add sausage
- Stir in sliced kolbász.
- Cover and simmer 30–40 minutes, until potatoes are tender and stew is thickened.
- Serve
- Traditionally served with crusty bread and pickles. 🥒🥖
✨ Tips & Variations:
- For a richer flavor, some add a spoonful of tomato paste.
- If you want it vegetarian, skip the sausage and use vegetable broth.
- A dollop of sour cream on top is also delicious. 😋
