🇭🇺 Hungarian Paprika Potatoes (Paprikás Krumpli)
Ingredients (serves 4–6)
- 2 lbs (900 g) potatoes, peeled & cut into chunks
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp lard or vegetable oil (traditionally lard is used)
- 2–3 tbsp sweet Hungarian paprika
- 1 Hungarian smoked sausage (kolbász), sliced (optional but traditional)
- 1 bell pepper, chopped (optional)
- 2 medium tomatoes, chopped or 1 cup canned diced tomatoes
- 4 cups (1 liter) water or chicken broth
- Salt & black pepper, to taste
