Ingredients (for 6–8 pieces):

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (7 g) instant yeast (or 25 g fresh yeast)
  • 1 ½ cups warm milk (or water)
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for the dough)
  • Oil (for deep frying)

Traditional Toppings:

  • 2–3 cloves garlic, minced or grated
  • 2–3 tbsp water (to mix with garlic for brushing)
  • Sour cream
  • Grated cheese (Edam, Emmental, or mozzarella)
