✨ Step 1: Make the Dough
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, salt. Add cold butter and rub into the flour with your fingers until crumbly.
- Add egg yolks, vanilla, and wine (or water). Knead into a smooth dough.
- Wrap and chill for 30 minutes.
🍎 Step 2: Prepare the Fillings
Apple:
- Squeeze grated apples to remove excess juice.
- Mix with sugar, cinnamon, and lemon zest.
Walnut:
- Pour warm milk over ground walnuts, add sugar and vanilla. Stir to form a paste.
Poppy Seed:
- Pour warm milk over poppy seeds, stir in sugar and orange zest.
🧱 Step 3: Assemble the Layers
- Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line a rectangular baking pan (about 9×13 in).
- Divide dough into 5 parts:
- Roll out first part and press into bottom of the pan.
- Spread poppy seed filling over it.
- Roll out second dough layer, place on top.
- Spread walnut filling.
- Third dough layer, then apple filling.
- Fourth dough layer, then plum jam.
- Top with final dough layer.
- Prick the top layer with a fork and brush with beaten egg.
🔥 Step 4: Bake and Rest
- Bake for 60–70 minutes, until golden brown.
- Cool completely, then refrigerate overnight.
- Slice cleanly once set – flavors deepen beautifully!
