⭐ Homemade Shepherd’s Pie

⭐ Instructions

1. Make the mashed potatoes

  1. Boil potatoes until soft (12–15 min).
  2. Drain, mash with butter, milk, salt, and pepper.
  3. Stir in cheddar if using.
  4. Set aside.

2. Make the meat filling

  1. In a large skillet, cook ground beef/lamb until browned.
  2. Add onions + garlic and cook until soft.
  3. Stir in carrots, tomato paste, Worcestershire, thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Pour in beef broth and simmer 5–7 minutes until thickened.
  5. Add peas (no need to cook long — they soften fast).

3. Assemble

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Spread the meat mixture in a baking dish.
  3. Top evenly with mashed potatoes.
  4. Use a fork to create little peaks (they crisp beautifully).

4. Bake

  • Bake 20–25 minutes, or until golden on top.
  • Broil the last 2 minutes for extra browning if you like.

⭐ Serve with

  • A green salad
  • Garlic bread
  • Pickles (YES, it’s amazing!)
