Ingredients
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 3–4 bell peppers (red, yellow, or green), sliced
- 4 medium tomatoes, chopped (or 1 cup canned tomatoes)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Hungarian sweet paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: ½ lb (250g) Hungarian sausage (kolbász), sliced
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pan or pot over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft.
- Add bell peppers and cook 5–7 minutes until slightly tender.
- Stir in garlic and paprika, cook 1 minute.
- Add tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Mix well.
- Cover and simmer 15–20 minutes until peppers are soft and flavors meld.
- If using sausage, add slices during the last 10 minutes of cooking.
Serve hot, with fresh bread, as a main dish or side.
